Inkeri is a Finnish variant of Ingrid. Ingrid originates in Old Norse language and means "beautiful goddess". In Norse mythology, Ing was another name of Freyr, and important god of farming, weather and fertility. Ingrid has always been a very popular name in Scandinavian countries. Ingrid of Sweden was a Queen Consort of Denmark. As a feminine given name it was popularized by Indrid Bergman, a Swedish actress, three Academy Awards winner and the leading actress in the film Casablanca.
