Liana is a short form of Juliana, Liliana, but most likely Eliana. Eliana originates in Hebrew language and means "my Lord responded". Many sources also mention its Latin, Greek and Arabic origin. It was the name of a Roman martyr. In the United States, both Eliana and Liana are fairly popular.
