Phaedra originates in Greek language and means "bright, radiant". In Greek mythology, she was the daughter of Minos and the wife Theseus, who unhappily falls in love with Hippolytus and eventually kills herself. The story inspired many artists over centuries, including Euripides, Seneca the Younger, Hanz Werner Henze and others.
