Ximena is most likely a variant of Simone. Simone originates in Hebrew language and means "one who has heard". It is a feminine form of Simon, this spelling being used mostly in French, it is also a variant of Jimena in Spanish. In France it was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century. It was popularized by the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir. Ximena was the wife of El Cid, a famous 11th century nobleman.
