We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Meet the Gilmore Girls litter! A couple rescuers had been working moving multiple dogs who were abandoned on a property outside Austin, Texas. The last two dogs were brought to one of the rescuers homes. They soon discovered the female was pregnant and suspected the male was the father. Mom, Lorelai, gave birth to 10 puppies on 12/27/23. Luke Danes, dad, has been very supportive. They are pictured in one of the images! Kirk, 7 weeks (DOB 12/27/23), male, Retriever/Shepherd mix, estimated to be large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in Austin, Texas and can transport to an adoptive home after he turns 10 weeks. Overall, this litter is very sweet and playful! They are very typical puppies who are on the go until they nap. They love to tug on each other, chase tails and remain very curious. He is not potty trained and we estimate this will happen as he continues to develop and understands better to potty outside. He has not been crate trained and spends his time in a penned area with his siblings. He would do well in a home with another dog who can show him the ropes and continue his positive socialization. He has not been around cats or kids, but at this age we think he would do well. We will note he has baby teeth which can be sharp. We always recommend a home with kids who understand and respect animal boundaries. Puppies are very adorable, snuggly and a lot of fun. They also require a lot of time, energy, consistency and training into adulthood. We are looking for a home that understands this process and is willing to commit to this journey. Kirk's foster mom as this to say about him, " An outgoing and affectionate pup, Kirk is the epitome of sweetness, always eager for cuddles and playtime with his littermates. His loving eyes will melt your heart in an instant, complemented by the adorable freckles adorning his nose. With his charming demeanor and dapper appearance, Kirk is sure to capture the hearts of everyone he meets." Puppies under 6 months of age are placed on a spay/neuter contract until they are old enough to be altered. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. This means if you work more than 4 hours outside of the home, if there is not a plan for the time you are away we are are not able to consider your application. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
