Farley's Story
Farley is a laid back 10 week old lab mix that weighs 13 lbs. He is esimated to be around 50-55 lbs when he is full grown. He is a quiet, go-with-the-flow type of guy that enjoys sitting back watching everything around him while he casually chews on a bone. He is very affectionate and loving, and loves to be wherever his human is. He is a big cuddle bug that truly loves nothing more than snuggling up with his human and giving them sweet puppy kisses. He is also a social butterfly that loves everyone he meets - including cats, dogs, and humans. When he meets a new dog friend for the first time, he goes straight into a submissive play bow, waits for them to initiate playtime, then his face light up with joy when his invitation to be new friends is accepted. He is super easy going and is perfectly happy just hanging out on the couch with his human relaxing, or if his human is up for more fun adventures outdoors, he is always happy to join. His ideal family is a good mix of active and laid back, enjoys spending time outdoors, and would take him on fun, leisurely activities like walking nature trails in the park or going to a dog-friendly brunch where he can meet new human and dog friends. Farley is low to medium energy, so he will require a few leisurely exercise sessions and play time per day as he grows. He can be both a couch potato and a fun, adventurous pup depending on what his human wants to do. If you feel like having a lazy day watching movies on the couch, Farley is happy to hang out, get belly rubs, and nap by your side. If you feel like going on an outdoor adventure hiking or exploring nature, he is also happy to do that as well. He really just loves being in the company of his human, no matter what they want to do. He is really skilled at self-entertaining, so just give him a toy box full of fun dog toys and chew toys, and he will keep himself busy while you work from home. He is the perfect pup for someone who works from home because he is quiet and laid back, and he would be happy to curl up on a dog bed next to you while you work and chew on his favorite bone. Farley is dog, cat and kid friendly. He does well with dogs of all ages and sizes, and is currently in a foster home with dogs ranging in age from puppy to senior, and from large to x-small in size. He knows how to adapt his play style to different dogs, so he will be gentle and calm with the resident chihuahua and then can engage in a fun game of chase or wrestle with the resident young pittie pup. He is very silly when he's playing with his furry friends and likes to sneak in some sweet puppy kisses any chance he gets. He can be independent but is happy to play or cuddle based on whatever the other dog wants, so he would be great for a family that has another dog that he could continue learning from as he grows. Although he loves other dogs, he is perfectly fine being a solo dog in the home as long as he gets plenty of time with his human. He was very respectful of the two resident cats' boundaries in his first foster home and doesn't interact with them much unless he wanted to play with the kitty flirt pole while they were playing, too. His laid back, sweet, and gentle temperament makes him the perfect pup to join a family with kids of all ages. He would love to have some human kids in his forever home to play and cuddle with. Farley is kennel trained and has just about mastered his potty training skills. He has done great transitioning outside to do his business and he will voice to his human when he needs to potty. As long as he has consistent, scheduled potty breaks, Farley won't have any accidents or use a potty pad that his foster mom has by the back door as backup. He currently sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but this cuddle bug would love nothing more than to sleep with his human once he gets older. He will need help perfecting his leash training once he is in his forever home, but is getting comfortable with having a leash on in his foster home. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can sunbathe and play in. He would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he has a human home majority of the day that can take him out for a few short walks per day to enjoy the sunshine and also perfect his potty training skills. Farley will have a $200 refundable neuter deposit added onto his adoption and transport fees because he is too young to be neutered at this time. He cannot be adopted into Canada at this time because of his age. If you are interested in adopting Farley, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. Farley is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
