But since weve never met her father (her mom is a real sweetheart), thats just a range. Puppy growth calculators have her topping out at 20 pounds. Maisy is an independent little pup who is happy playing by herself but also willing to get in on the regular scrums. As a young puppy, she will need a family that is patient and committed to her training and socialization. A household where she can grow and learn in a nurturing environment would be perfect. Health and Care: Maisy is a young puppy who will need regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care as she grows. Because she is so young, she has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that her immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, Maisy MUST stay out of public places where she could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no-puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for her medical safety and longevity. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home.All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
