me's Story

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13734 Gus Gus is part of the Literary Mice Litter. He was two pounds, thirteen ounces at six weeks. Hes estimated to be about 15-30 pounds when grown. But since weve never met his father (his mom is a real sweetheart), thats just a range. Puppy growth calculators put him topping out at 26 pounds. Gus Gus is all about playing (tackling, tugging, wrestling) with his littermates. He is often the one to get the party started. He always gets more than his fair share of the chow, and hes got the belly to prove it. He has very short, light brown fur. Ideal Home: Gus Gus would thrive in a home that can provide him with lots of love, attention, and playtime. As a young puppy, he will need a family that is patient and committed to his training and socialization. A household where he can grow and learn in a nurturing environment would be perfect. Health and Care: Gus Gus is a young puppy who will need regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care as he grows. Because he is so young, he has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that his immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, Gus Gus MUST stay out of public places where he could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no-puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for his medical safety and longevity. Adoption Information: Gus Gus is looking for a forever home where he can grow up to be a happy and healthy dog. If you think you could be the perfect match for this little bundle of joy, please apply today! Gus Gus is able to go home as soon as July 31, 2024. Gus Gus is currently being fostered in Maurertown, VA. To adopt fill out the simple online application at https://ophrescue.org Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
