Dolly (aka Dollar)'s Story
Dolly is about 12 years old, and came into the local shelter on valentine's day after being confiscated by animal control. She had what appeared to be a vaginal prolapse and significant hair loss and legs that seemed to struggle to carry her around. Her apparent prolapse according to her previous owner was dismissed by a statement of she has had like 50 puppies so it just does that . She was in surgery the next day to spay her and to everyone's surprise her prolapse wasn't a prolapse at all. Instead it was a golfball sized mass that was removed. While in surgery she also had 3 teeth removed as they were barely attached to her mouth. Dolly has been settling in, getting spoiled and decompressing. She has received several baths to soothe her incessantly itchy skin and ears but her skin still has a ways to go to fully recover from months or years of no flea prevention or treatment. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need.
