Buddy's Story
10/22/24: Everyone meet Buddy! This sweet boy came to us from a local family who was displaced by a fire and have been living in a camper camper while trying to put their lives back together. Buddy is a 5 year old, super sweet, 7.5# Chihuahua and a great companion. He is totally content being carried around and loved on. When he feels that he should be getting more attention, he howls and will let you know its time to pick him up! He has been acclimated to cats, but does not care for male dogs so he would do best in a home with female dogs, if any. The Akc describes the Chihuahua as a tiny dog with a huge personality. They possess loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude. Compact and confident, Chihuahuas are ideal city pets. They are too small for roughhousing with kids, and special care must be taken in cold weather, but Chihuahuas are adaptable'as long as they get lots of quality time in their preferred lap. They are normally a long lived breed with many living to 14-16 years old! Their loyalty and love for those in their inner circle cannot be matched. Buddy will need work on housetraining and leash training so we are looking for patient foster or foster to adopt homes for each of them so they can have a chance to shine. He can continue his vet care at our veterinarians office until he is ready for adoption! He has been examined, vaccinated, treated for intestinal and external parasites and has been neutered. An adoption donation of $400 is being asked to cover a portion of his veterinary and care fees if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. Due to his size, current condition and temperament, foster to adopt requirements are: -Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY to continue his vetting as needed in the upcoming weeks. -Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. -He should do fine with dogs and cats in the home due to his gentle demeanor; Buddy does not like male dogs, however, so should be placed with females -He will need a patient home willing to work on training and giving him time to warm up -Homes with children over 10 years old should be ok since he would prefer a quiet place to settle in -Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match. -Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet.
